Montecasino, in Fourways, is a large entertainment complex built to resemble a Tuscan hill town, cobbled streets, painted facades and all, opened in 2000 and still one of Gauteng's best known entertainment destinations. It is a short drive from Rivonia.
The gaming floor is the anchor, but Montecasino also holds a full cinema complex, the Teatro and Pieter Toerien theatres for touring productions and musicals, and a genuinely good spread of restaurants and bars built into the village theming.
The Montecasino Bird Gardens hold a large walk through aviary with dozens of bird species alongside small mammals and reptiles, and the Magic Company covers arcade games, bowling and laser tag for children, useful if a trip includes more than just the adults.
